a mothers worst nightmare

Ladies my 19 yr od dd was attacked yesterday on her way to work. Apparantly some guy started following her, and asked her for her name of course she wasn't going to give it to him. He kept on harrassing her and then beat her until she finally gave him a fake name. I am crying as I write this. She's home, but we have to go look at mugshots today. This has been so very traumatic for the family. Of course my dh wants to kill somebody, my 13yr old dd couldn't sleep last night she kept crying as did the one that was attacked. I don't understand, the guy even followed her right into her job, and then realized there were cameras and fled. Please pray she has some swelling on her face, and the doctor said she may even get a black eye. She fell when he beat her and her hip is hurting. The worst part is that there was no one on the street, and the passing cars just honked but didn't stop to help her. It was in a high class residential, 86th and 3rd Avenue. Just some A**hole with nothing better to do. I am so sorry I am just babbling.

Not enough hours...

Do you ever find that there are just not enough hours in the day, to do the things you really want to do. Like Scrap. Well I thought I would scrap this weekend, but I just didn't feel good, and when I did start to feel better I had to do other things like laundry, dinner put up my tree. Finally. I hate putting the tree up it takes just about 4 hours to put it up and that's not counting the 2 hours of tree trimming. In the end of course I love the outcome. I will take pics later and post. So after putting up the tree it hit me OMG I forgot to do my layout for Scrapping the Music, but I was so tired what am I going to do. Go Digital. LOL. Yes I created my layout in about an hour, I downloaded a free kit from 2 peas in a bucket.
I like the way it turned out, I need more practice. Besides I was still able to create my layout for Scrapping the Music.
Oh and by the way, speaking of Scrapping the Music they are having a DT call for 3 more people, so come on over and submit your layouts to Mary Yontz. She is an awesome lady.
Another DT call is for Savvy n Sassy ribbon kit club if you love ribbon this is the place to be. The end of the call is on Dec. 23 @ midnight. If you go and check it out let them know I sent you.

my journaling starts with the title " Life ain't always beautiful...but it's a beautiful ride. Being pregnant with you I didn't feel always beautiful, but in the end it has been worth a little ugliness."
TFL Please check us out at Scrapping the Music and submit your layouts for a great prize.

this week

for Scrapping the Music the song is You'll be in my Heart by Phil Collins. I knew right away who I was going to scrap, you see last year on Nov. 5th my brother Michael passed away. I have been dreading the one yr. anniversary of his death, but I knew that I had to honor his memory. So I created this layout in honor of him, because he will always be in my heart. It was such a healing experience, yes I cried as I held his photo in my hand, as I created the layout, and when it was done I cried, but I know he's in a better place.

October already!!

I just cant believe it, how fast does the time goes. This is my favorite time of year, because it all starts with change. I love how the colors of the leaves on trees change, it's like a new beginning. It's like having a second chance to blossom all over, but in a different light.
This time of year is when I stop and think what to I want to change about me, well of course it would be my weight, before Thanksgiving I would love to lose at least 10 pounds, is it possible yes, but I have to CHANGE my eating habits. I don't think eating 2 mini MR. Goodbar's is good at 9pm. Or my favorite coolatta coffee from Dunkin Dounuts (vanilla bean) will help either. UHM so what am I going to change, I think it will be my perspective on my life. I just need to be happy in the skin that I am in and change not because of the weight, but because of my health. You know I am not going to stay healthy eating junk food, so today I will try to just eat healthy. Can I live without my Coolatta yes, can I live with out my French Vanilla coffee (maybe), but I will try.
I challenge you all to create a layout using the word Change in it!! Have fun, email me with your layout and I will enter you in a drawing for a RAK!!!

I need your help

Now let me share with you something on a more serious note, as you are all probably aware that October is Breast Cancer awareness month, well the ladies at Scrapncircle are hosting their very first Crop for a cure, it will be a week long. This is very important to me, as my grandmother passed away from Breast Cancer before I was born, I wish that then there could have been a cure, or even more technology, medicines so that I would have had the opportunity to have met her. My mother was 13 when my grandmother died and she was a middle child of ten children the youngest was 4. It was a sad time for my grandfather to have to raise all these children on his own, due to a disease which still claims so many lives even now. Yes we do have more information, but we need a cure. So I am asking for you to take some time out and help us raise money for a cure. Here is some information about the crop for a cure.

I need sponsors for Crop for a cure, you can either give one set amount, or $1 for every layout or project I create. So if I create just 7 layouts for the week then you donate $7. Again read over the rules over at Scrapncircle
Above is a layout of my grandmother

Blog challenge (my biggest fear)

Okay so Rori at the Scrapbook Stand posted a challenge about our biggest fear last week, I really couldn't think of one. Well of course I fear losing my family, but I think that is everyones big fear not just mine.
So on Sunday I was driving and I tell you memories of my biggest fear came flooding and I had to do everything possible to focus on the road and not let this feeling overwhelm me. My biggest fear as a child was driving over the Williamburg Bridge here in New York. I always felt that it was not a stable bridge, but it was always worse for me because my dad who was the only one who drove was an alcoholic. Yes and you can imagine he drove drunk, and one day we almost crashed on that bridge and my door open and I had to try to hold it closed while it was still moving. Seat belts were not a requirement then. So just picture it me at the age of about 10 or 11 and struggling to hold closed this door while the car is moving on a bridge on the outside lane. The worst part was that after he stopped the car and closed the door, he just slaps me and tells me it was my fault. Yes he was also an abusive man. Unfortunately that was not the first time we almost had a car accident or almost died. That same summer we went to the mountains to a lake there, and everyone was drinking and all I could think of was WHY? As we were leaving the lake we had to drive through one of those small roads with just trees and trees all around, but the trees were deep as if we were on a cliff driving and then it happened he started arguing with my mom, he then swirved the car when it happened our car was halfway off this road(cliff) luckily we were traveling with about ten cars in tow everyone jumped out of their cars and had to lean on the trunk so that me and my sisters can get out. They were able to move the car back on the road, but I thought this is it were dead. Now back to this past Sunday, I was driving on the New Jersey turnpike and my exit happened to be a bridge that reminded me somewhat of the Williamsburg bridge when all the memories came flooding I was like OMG please dear God help me to steer this car in the right direction, don't let me lose focus on the road I have my family in the car. Well of course I managed, but at the first rest stop I woke up my DH and told him he had to drive. My hands were trembling so bad and my heart was pounding to fast. The memory was as if it was yesterday, I just wanted to scream. I thank God everyday for my life as it is now. I don't live in an abusive home, or an alcoholic home. Is there something wrong with drinking a glass of wine, no but when you drink more than that just one glass of wine or alcohol and then drive YES there is. My biggest fears are a number of things now looking back, one is that I don't want to be like my father, and always hope I'm doing the best for my kids. I adore them. Two is that I set a good example for my kids so that they don't turn to drugs or alcohol, would I love them any less no, but I want them to know that they can achieve anything they want to. Three that I would never be a fool and knowingly drive under the influence of even one drink because I think I can, and four that I never lose control in a car while driving over a bridge. The best things about knowing my fears now is that I can do everything possible to overcome them.

Life's not always black & white...

Sometimes we need a spash of color. I am so used to having a routine, that when things don't quite turn out that way I feel as though I'm lost. So much has happened in the last few days, that I felt as though I was lost. KWIM. I realized that I spent way too much time on the computer. It has been my daily routine for the last year, but on Saturday I decided you know what I can still check my regular boards, post comments and then get off my rear and take care of other things. I thought OH NO will I be able to do this, YES I did. I feel so good about it, will I be out of the loop, will I miss something online, maybe but it will not take over my life. Summer is fast approaching and I want to be able get up and excersice, go out with my kids and just have FUN. So when you think that life is just black and white, add a little color.

So my challenge for you this week is to create a layout, using the colors Black and White and a splash of color. Email your layouts to Edenroses66@yahoo.com. I will post layouts as I receive them and annouce a winner May 21, 2007.

Above is my example layout, I used a sketch provided by Rhea on her blog ( http://sassys-spot.blogspot.com/ ). have fun can't wait to see what you come up with!

2Jills blog challenge "Because of You"

I titled mine Because of You, but the challenge is really about Mother's Day, and becoming a mom for the first time.

At the age of 18 when most teenagers are worried about High School proms, graduation, and what they where the latest fashions, I was pregnant and just trying to make it to school and at least graduate. I couldn't worry about the prom, I mean really back then maternity fashions sucked and well it really wouldn't look right me going to the prom at 7 mos pregnant. I do have to say my teachers and classmates were very supportive and helped me reach my goal. I was able to graduate with my fellow classmates that June, and in July I had a 5pound 10 ounce baby boy.

What was the happiest day of my life also became the most confusing day. You see I had a child with a disability called Down's Syndrome. I had never heard of Down's Syndrome, I didn't know what to expect, but I knew that I loved you. I mean, really everytime you moved inside of me, or I felt a kick I loved you. From the moment I was aware of my pregnancy, you were loved. So the moment you were born and they put you on my chest you were loved, I never saw a disabiliy I only saw this beautiful baby boy that was a part of me.

My sons name is Carlos Christopher, but we all call him Chris. I just want you all to know that because of him I became a mother, or should I say a lioness who is constantly protecting her cub.

Because of you, I had to grow up immediately, I not only became a mother, but I became a mother with a child with special needs. Because of you, I learned to be a little more patient. Because of you, I learned to love a little more freely. Because of you, I looked at the world diffently. Because of you, I am more compassionate. Because of you, I was not afraid to have more children. Because of you, your sisters are compassionate towards others. Because of you, I am full of life. Because of you, I laugh loudly. Because of you, I am LOVED unconditionally. Because of you, I love you more than you'll ever know. All this I'm able to do because of you. I love you Chris, my first love, my son.

What's Scrappining?

Well I know that I'm behind in posting my challenge, but so many things going on in my life right now. My father in law had surgery on Tuesday and it's taking a toll on the family. I'm back now, he's recovering slowly from the surgery he's fine.

On another note, I got the most wonderful surprise in an email, from Serendipity Scrapbook Designs. One of my layouts was featured in their newsletter I was featured gallery member. My reaction was OMG that's my layout, woo hoo!

I'm currently working on some DT projects and looking foward to going to a local crop here, hosted by Timeless Inspirations. I'm looking foward to meeting some of my online buddies there.

Now for this weeks challenge I would like for you to create a card with pastel colors. Above is my example! Enjoy can't wait to see what you come up with.

Okay so here's my Monday Mania Challenge

I've decided to start a challenge every Monday on my blog. You will receive a RAK from me and it will motivate me to update my blog. So here's the first challenge.
Create a Layout using at least 9 buttons, 9 brads, 9 flowers, and some lace some where on your layout. I can't wait to see what you create. I created my layout with more than the required elements. Have fun with this!

I'm Back

Okay so I haven't really been anywhere, just need to get used to blogging. LOL. It's funny when you have your friends telling you "Hey you need to update your blog" little did they know I had truly forgotten about it. I also forgot my info. LOL. Anyway here's my update.
In the month of January I was in a six week competition for a DT spot, called the Crop-Azing Race hosted by timeless Inspirations. The race involved Detour Challenges, Roadblock Challenges and Fast Foward. It was really a fun competition and I was able to create layouts and projects that were way out of my comfort zone. On the last week of the competition I was still in the race, and then it was the final moment when they make the annoucement of who the Grand Prize winner is and the rest of the 3 DT members. Well after the annoucement was made of the 4 DT members I congratulated everyone was talking on the phone with my girlfriend Holly who was also in the competition and we just said okay so we didn't make it but it sure was fun. Well as I say that I look at the Message Board and my eyes went straight to the topic that read "wait...more? Yes" and when I open the topic my friend Holly had made the DT they opened up another spot. I was so excited for her, she was crying and I was laughing then I go post my congrats to her on the forum and then there's another topic that reads "and could it be? The team is now 6." Yes you can guess it was me. OMG I was screaming in poor Holly's ear. OMG, OMG I made it. I was just so excited that we both made it. I'll post some of my LO's and projects created for the competition here.
On another note I entered one of my layouts that was created for the Timeless Inspirations competition in a layout contest at Serendipityscrapbookdesigns.com and I won. I could not believe that I won another contest. I can't wait to get my prize for that contest as soon as I do I will take pictures and post here.

Finally,

I've taking the plunge and have created a blog. Boy was I behind in the times, it seems that every scrapper I meet has a blog spot and when they ask me for mine I draw a blank. Didn't really see the point in blogging then, but after viewing so many blogs I figured hey why not? I can do this, so here it is my blog. What do I do now, don't know but, guess what I will learn from the help of my friend who is addicted to Blogs.
Now let me tell you a little about me. My name is Dolores, and I reside in the town of New York Yankess. I am a wife, a mother of 4 beautiful kids, I am a sister, a daughter, and last but not least I am a scrapper. I believe that God paves the way for all I do in life, He is the one I can count on, when all else fails.
My family are the joy of my life, and for me it is important to preserve the memories in my daily life. The Good, the bad and the ugly. My favorite embellishments are buttons, flowers and ribbons. My favorite techniques are sewing and inking at the moment.
